iMac 1TB Fusion Drive SUCKS!
Do you remember how long you haven’t heard of a 32GB SSD?
I am not talking about a 32GB SDCARD, I mean a 32GB SSD!
OK, let me tell you, you can find one in your iMac having 1TB fusion drive in the 2017, 2019 model! (Yes, 2019!!) Here is the Fusion Drive description I captured in 2019:
So, what’s the big deal of having a 32GB SSD in your iMac? OK, in my real experience (i have the iMac 2017), IT IS XXX EXTREMELY SLOW! ESPECIALLY YOU ARE USING a large photo library! (who don’t have one nowadays?)
My iMac 2013 which was screwed up few months ago was having a 128GB SSD!!! Even the iMac 2013 is much faster than the iMac 2017 and 2019 models!
I think it was a terrible move by Apple and make iMac no more attractive anymore! So, think twice before you buy a new iMac!
A Samsung 1TB evo 860 with USB3 connected.
Actually, tried few months using a Samsung 1TB evo external drive with iMac didn’t work! It is very unstable! (I dont know whether it is related to compatibility issue with external enclosure)
I turn out using a Samsung 1TB T5 and it works fine so far.
